The suitcase and packs are loaded, tickets and excursion vouchers organized. Itinerary:
Empire Builder through Seattle to St. Paul – Lydia researches progenitors.
Empire Builder to Chicago: Architectural tour by boat, Cubs game at Wrigley field, night club tour.
City of New Orleans to WHERE ELSE – NOL: Preservation Hall front row seats, swamp boat tour, plantation tour, dinner/river cruise.
The Crescent to Washington D.C. – All day city tour, several days going through Smithsonians(there are 1q or 12).
The Vermonter to White River Junction- full week seminar on train development in new England, cog railway, visit new Hampshire across the river.
The Vermonter- Boston, Meet heather and grand kids and explore Freedom Trail.
Lake Shore Limited to Chicago, Empire Builder home four weeks after departure.
Excited and nervous. We never travel without encountering adventure (e.g. my time in Tian An Men Square, altitude sickness in Colorado, flu/cold and snow in Arizona). We plan exhaustively because we are both control freaks and the run up to leaving is stressful. Still, once we hit the road, we enjoy every minute.
